Fall Protocol and Emergency Instructions for Health Care Workers

The protocol emphasises the importance of immediate action to mitigate potential risks and ensure timely medical assistance. By calling 911, even for seemingly minor falls, we aim to prioritize the health and safety of our clients, providing them with prompt and professional medical attention.

Instructions:

1. Assessment: In the event of a fall, assess the client's condition promptly. Even if the fall appears minor, it is crucial to evaluate the client's well-being and any potential injuries.
2. Communication: Immediately call 911 for emergency medical assistance. Provide clear and concise information about the client's condition, the nature of the fall, and any visible injuries.
3. Stay with the Client: Remain with the client to offer reassurance and monitor their condition until emergency responders arrive. If the client expresses discomfort or reports pain, do not attempt to move them unless there is an immediate danger.
4. Notify Supervisor: Inform your supervisor and next of kin about the incident as soon as possible. Complete the incident report, sharing details about the fall and any observations made during the assessment.
