Can a Health Care Worker cancel upcoming jobs?
Health Care Workers can cancel upcoming jobs in extenuating circumstances as described in this section. Because cancellations disrupt Care Seeker’s plans and impact confidence in the WeBookCare community, Health Care Workers should fulfill all accepted jobs. If a Health Care Worker cannot fulfill a job because of an extenuating circumstance or similar conditions beyond their control, it is their responsibility (and not the Care Seeker) to cancel more than 24-hours before that scheduled visit to allow their Care Seeker time to adjust their plans.
- If the start time is less than 24 hours and you need to cancel-you'll need to contact us.
- You can never cancel for any reason that violates WeBookCare’s Nondiscrimination Policy.
Can Health Care Workers cancel their current job?
Health Care Workers can’t cancel current jobs unless they reasonably believe, and we confirm based on a review of available evidence such as message threads or previous ratings that mention care services, that the care services are different than what was expected. Examples include:
- Care services are different than expected
- Care location is different
- Home modifications/equipment not available or not suitable
- Inaccurate Care Recipient Care Plan
- Health Care Workers cannot access the care location
- Property is unsafe
- Care Recipient is unsafe
- Conflict with family/visitors/Care Recipient
You’ll be able to cancel current jobs 3 times in one year for these reasons—after that, you’ll have to contact us to make the cancellation without penalty. Otherwise, Caregiver cancellation penalties will apply.
Note: If the start time is less than 24 hours and you need to cancel, the option to cancel online for these reasons won't be available—you'll need to contact us.
Extenuating circumstances
Health Care Workers can cancel upcoming and current jobs where they can establish that extenuating circumstances or similar conditions beyond their control prevent the completion of the job. In determining whether the consequences should be waived, we may consider relevant factors including how timely the Health Care Worker cancelled the job after becoming aware they could not help.
