Messaging With Care Seekers
The secret to success as a Health Care Worker is nailing communication with Care Seekers. Messaging Care Seekers is one of the most time-consuming parts of being a Health Care Worker. If your communication game is off, you’re going to be crucified when it comes to review time. But I have a step-by-step process for you to follow that will ensure you get 5-star reviews. Therefore you must get this right, which is where these pointers come in handy!
Responding to Job Offers
Two things that matter most with Care Seekers is trust and rapport. When it comes to crafting WeBookCare messages, responding right away makes the Care Seeker feel empowered and nurtured. Ensuring they are happy could be the difference between a 4 or 5-star review. Here’s why: It will give the impression that you are there to help and take care of others right from the get-go. As a matter of fact, it may be the most important message you send. This is the first communication you’ll have with a Care Seeker, so it’s the perfect chance to make a good impression. It’s also a good idea to make it considerate, thoughtful and professional. Emoji's are fun, but limit them to one.
Number 1-Please and Thank You
To illustrate, start by thanking them for contacting you and that you can’t wait to help.
Number 2-Next, be direct
Confirm what care services you provide and when you can help.
Number 3–Be helpful
Finally, let them know you’re only too happy to answer any questions they may have. Ask them to send you a request for a Meet & Greet to learn more. Care Seekers like this.
In summary, your messages will ooze confidence and show you’re ready to take action to help the Care Seeker.
You're booked! Remind, Check-In, Report
Number 1-The reminder message
Re-emphasise that you’re coming. Care Seekers get antsy about new Health Care Worker so this will put their mind to rest.
Number 2-The check-in message
Sure the Care Seeker has the schedule, but it’s my experience that they like to know you are at the home care location so they don’t worry.
Number 3-Reporting
Start by providing details on how the visit went. Communicate what tasks you did and the client’s mood. Finally, don’t forget to write if you have any concerns. Care Seekers rely on your eyes and ears to know how their loved one is doing. I like to keep my messages factual and non-opinionated, and get straight to the point. But it can also be a good idea to include suggestions in messages. Or seek further instructions.
Keeping Your Profile Rank High
When Care Seekers research WeBookCare, they are looking for local, trusted care, the way they like It. They want to book Health Care Workers all in one place, whatever the care needs. When the results appear, they will look at the searches to find the best Health Care Workers fitting their needs. If you appear on their list and you are available for their dates, they’ll send a job offer without checking out the thousands of other options available on WeBookCare so that they can move on with their life. This means that the more bookings with WeBookCare, the more chances you have to be booked, which could make you earn tens of thousands of dollars extra over time. But the question is: how do you stand out? To better understand the WeBookCare ranking strategy, you have to better understand WeBookCare first. Care Seekers who are searching for Health Care Workers on WeBookCare usually are in search of high-quality, accurate profiles that are hopefully managed by responsive Health Care Workers who are of service and able to help.
Number One–Craft a Detailed Profile
You need to make your profile stand out and to do that, you need to complete each section of your profile. A complete profile will help Care Seekers know what to expect from your care service.
Number Two–Be Responsive
Nothing is more frustrating for a Care Seeker than to contact a Health Care Worker and to get a response a week later or worst-case scenario, to get no response at all. WeBookCare wants you to make money so be quick with your replies and reply to all of your job offers. Take note that Health Care Workers who reply within an hour have a better chance of getting the job because they are simply awesome. To be more responsive, make sure to install the WeBookCare app on your smartphone since it will allow you to reply first to Care Seekers' requests instantly from anywhere on earth.
Number Three–Build Countless Awesome Reviews
WeBookCare wants you to deliver great care services to your Care Seekers; job after job and the quantity and quality of reviews from past Care Seekers can impact your performance.
Number Four–Update Your Calendar Regularly
Busy Health Care Workers visit their jobs page every day and WeBookCare takes note of this.
Number Five–Work Your Pricing
Take a look at how much other Health Care Workers are charging in your area and make sure to use competitive pricing.
Number Six–Build Trust & Get Verified
WeBookCare is built on trust and reputation and we want to build a trustworthy community so if you are a new Health Care Worker, make sure to finish your enhanced criminal record check and upload your resume and credentials. Also, if you are new to WeBookCare and don’t have any reviews yet, ask past clients to recommend you, under the “Profile” and then “Testimonials” sub-menu. You should only request testimonials from people who know you well. All of this will help boost your profile and it will make it more attractive to Care Seekers
Part 2
Meet & Greets and How to Book Them. It’s nice to meet you!
Meet and Greets and How to A Care Seeker has messaged you and asked to meet. Meet & Greets are of paramount importance. It’s you that can help them feel valued and appreciated, especially early on when relationships haven’t been fully established. By taking the time to learn as much as you can about the Care Recipient, show kindness and that you care. Health Care Workers who learn more about their Care Recipients will be more aware of the expectations that lie ahead. The first few minutes are critical. Plan and rehearse it well.
Number One–Safety and Trust
WeBookCare is designed with your safety in mind. Always communicate with the Care Seeker through WeBookCare's secure, private messaging platform, which protects you from phishing and identity theft. You should never be asked to book visits outside of WeBookCare or receive money directly from Care Seekers outside of WeBookCare‘s messaging channels. Most Care Seekers will want to arrange a Meet & Greet at the Care Recipients home before you start. Let us know if a message makes you uncomfortable or if someone tries to get you to work or pay you outside WeBookCare. You can learn more about WeBookCare’s security features in the Education Centre.
Number Two–Be on Time
You have communicated through WeBookCare with the Care Seeker and your first visit is scheduled. Download the WeBookCare app before you go. Arrive on time. Arriving too early can be disruptive to routines. Arriving late is never advisable. Know where you are going, where to park and entrance instructions. This way you will make those you are helping feel secure.
Number Three–Dress professionally!
Caregiving is a serious job, so it's important to look professional, while still dressing appropriately for whatever you'll be doing. Don’t forget to consider your footwear, hygiene and accessories as key components of your attire.
Number Four-Be friendly
Always maintain a positive and warm attitude. When you arrive, introduce yourself. Your goal is to be inviting and build trust. If your elder client is fully cognitively intact, very active or even has dementia, your friendly smile and welcoming voice will go a long way. Wrapped around these communication skills is your personal energy, which both you and I know is hard on some days - but we make it happen because it’s important. If you want to create a safe environment, model the kind of attitude and energy you want if you were the recipient of care.
Number Five-Ask for a tour
Remember that you are entering a client’s home to ask them to show you around – even if they are living in a small space. Ask questions during the tour as this helps you get to know the home’s layout and assess the client’s mobility and true cognitive ability.
Number Six-Know client preferences
Find out what your client likes so you can provide them with their creature comforts (i.e., favorite chair or food, favorite book or television show, etc.) Doing so will show them that you are listening and care about their needs. Acting on this information will build trust, avoid potential problems, and help you anticipate their needs or points of agitation.
Number Seven-Be respectful of their space
At first, you will be a stranger in the home so don’t just make yourself comfortable. For example, if you need to see another area of the home, always ask, “Can we look at this part of the home?” It’s a small way of showing an understanding that you are new, while respecting their privacy.
Number Eight-Take notes
Keep a journal of observations separate from reporting to note small details about their preferences or information that helps you better understand a client’s needs. This is especially helpful if an elder client isn’t verbal or able to communicate well.
Number Nine-Say goodbye
When it’s time to leave, make sure you say goodbye to the client and family if they are there. Keep communicating. Even beyond the first visit, keep asking questions to nurture clients and open the lines of communication. Stay in touch with family members and message on WeBookCare as directed. If there are any problems, be sure to communicate early and often with the appropriate parties.
To end with another cliché, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. These pointers will help you to secure jobs and repeats! Good luck!
